Program of Legal Affairs

Established in 1993, Legal Affairs program is one of the earliest and most important programs in Nanhua College of Industry and Commerce (NHCIC). Their in-depth legal knowledge and work experience gives students a view into their legal careers after graduation. In addition, the program also retains experienced judges, prosecutors and lawyers as part-time teachers.

This program focuses on application of theoretical knowledge into practical skills, allowing students to receive academic degrees as well as vocational certificates. The program attaches importance to cultivating the students' professional capabilities and establishing well-rounded qualities so to serve the cultural and economic development of Guangdong Province. This program aims to cultivate professional and legal-service-oriented graduates who can work in court, legal service organizations, sub district communities, law firms and government as junior assistants and secretaries.

The program of legal affairs obtained great support from the Guangdong Federation of Trade Unions, the Chairman of which pointed out that the construction of this program should be connected with the legal work of GDFTN and carry out project-based teaching on the basis of legal aid workstations. As a result, the program signed an agreement to practice with the Legal Consultancy of GDFTN and established a legal aid center serving GDFTN.

In order to solve the problem of students being unqualified to take the National Judicial Examination and to expand the students' employment opportunities, the Legal Affairs program has begun the task of promoting the graduates to undergraduates. So the first year students begin the law program courses in the South China Normal University and get their Bachelor Degree in Art. So far, 80% of the graduates received their Bachelors Degree after three years of study in the college.
